ReadSoft Online is now sold as Tungsten AP Essentials. Basic costs $41 a month for 100 invoices and Premium, the plan with line items and PO matching, costs $62. Both scale in fixed volume steps to 50,000 invoices a month, at roughly $0.38 and $0.57 an invoice, and invoices over your plan bill at $0.56 and $1.12.

The store shows "starting at $41 per month". That number buys 100 invoices. What you actually pay depends on the plan tier, the volume step you pick and how often you go over it.
Basic captures header and footer fields only. Line item capture sits in Premium, which costs $62 against $41 at 100 invoices and $2,850 against $1,898 at 5,000.
Basic is $0.41 an invoice at 100 a month and still $0.38 at 50,000. Premium moves from $0.62 to $0.57. Buying 500 times the volume saves about 8 percent.
Invoices beyond your plan cost $0.56 each on Basic and $1.12 on Premium. On Premium that is twice the in-plan rate, so an undersized plan gets expensive fast.
Basic lists "Output as XML" as the export. Getting that into QuickBooks, Xero or a spreadsheet usually needs a connector or an import mapping someone has to build.
GL coding, approval hierarchies and exception workflows sit in the Enterprise tier, which has no public price and runs through Tungsten or a partner.
Tungsten partners report standard support for on-premises ReadSoft ended on 31 December 2025. Those customers are being moved to TotalAgility, InvoiceAgility or another vendor, and none of those paths is priced on a public page.
These prices come from the Tungsten AP Essentials store, the self-service checkout for the product that used to be Kofax ReadSoft Online. We pulled the monthly price for every volume step on both paid plans. Prices are in US dollars, per month, before any VAT.
The trial runs two months and processes up to 500 documents with no credit card. After it ends you need a paid subscription to keep processing.

Three numbers from last quarter decide which tier you land on and whether overage will bite.
Use the peak, not the average. Month end, quarter end and year end can run 30 to 50 percent above a normal month, and every invoice over the plan bills at the overage rate.
If you only key vendor, date, invoice number and totals, Basic covers it. If you code by line or match to purchase orders, you are on Premium, and the price rises by about half.
Price the connector or import mapping that turns XML into your ledger, and ask for an Enterprise quote if you need approvals. Then compare the total with a tool that exports Excel, CSV or QuickBooks files directly.
AP Essentials is a capable capture and matching product with long ERP roots. It is priced like one, per invoice, with the matching features gated to Premium.
If most of your spend runs against purchase orders and receipts, Premium's PO pairing and 3-way matching do real work, and $0.57 an invoice is fair for it.
Teams that already run ReadSoft validations, vendor rules and ERP connectors keep that setup by staying on Tungsten, which is worth something during a migration.
If you mostly need vendor bills keyed into a small-business ledger, paying per invoice for XML output and matching you do not use is the expensive route.
Because the per-invoice rate barely falls and overage costs up to double, volume spikes are where the bill hurts. Flat page plans absorb them better.
ReadSoft Online, the cloud invoice capture product Kofax sold for years, is now called Tungsten AP Essentials after Kofax renamed itself Tungsten Automation. The product and its self-service store still run on the readsoftonline.com domain. It is sold in three tiers, and the two paid tiers you can buy online are priced by how many documents you process a month.

Some software directories list ReadSoft at a monthly price per user. The Tungsten store does not sell seats. It sells a monthly document volume, and extra users are created inside the admin center at no listed charge. If a quote you hold is priced per user, it is a partner or Enterprise arrangement, not the store price.

500 times the volume buys an 8 percent lower rate. Going one invoice over the plan on Premium costs twice the in-plan rate.
The store lets you pick one of 23 monthly volumes. These are the monthly prices it returns for each, with the effective cost per invoice. The step you choose is the most important pricing decision you make, because anything above it bills at the overage rate until you change plans.

Two things stand out. From about 900 invoices a month the rate is flat, so a team at 1,000 invoices and a team at 50,000 pay essentially the same per document. And Premium sits at exactly 1.5 times Basic at almost every step, which makes line item capture and matching a 50 percent surcharge on the whole volume, not a fixed add-on.
ReadSoft Online costs $0.38 to $0.42 per invoice on Basic and $0.57 to $0.62 per invoice on Premium, depending on the volume step. Invoices above your plan cost $0.56 on Basic and $1.12 on Premium. Tungsten partners describe the meter as per invoice rather than per page, so a four-page utility bill counts once.
Take a US AP team at 1,000 invoices a month that needs line items. The nearest Premium step is 1,100 for $626 a month, or $7,512 a year. If they buy the 900 step at $512 to save money and land 1,000 invoices, the 100 extra cost $112, making $624, almost the same as buying the right step. If a quarter-end month then hits 1,400, the 900 plan costs $512 plus 500 times $1.12, which is $1,072 for that month. Sizing to the peak is cheaper than sizing to the average.
Overage is where ReadSoft pricing stops being linear. On Basic an extra invoice is $0.56 against about $0.38 in plan, a 47 percent premium. On Premium it is $1.12 against $0.57, almost exactly double. Plan changes apply immediately in the store, so a team that watches usage can step up before month end. A team that does not will pay the higher rate on every invoice over the line.

The last row is the common mistake: a team buys the step that matched the trial, volume grows, and the bill runs 52 percent above the plan that would have covered it.
On-premises ReadSoft is. Tungsten Automation partners report that standard support for ReadSoft ended on 31 December 2025, with no further updates, fixes or vendor support, and that Tungsten is moving those customers to TotalAgility for SAP and Oracle estates or InvoiceAgility for smaller ERPs. The cloud product, ReadSoft Online, is still sold under the Tungsten AP Essentials name at the prices above.

The two products are not identical, so the comparison has to be honest about what each includes. AP Essentials Premium does PO pairing and 2-way and 3-way matching. InvoiceExtractor does not sell itself as a matching engine. It reads the header and every line item from PDFs and scans and exports Excel, CSV, JSON or a QuickBooks file on a flat monthly page allowance.
