AutoEntry Pricing and Sage AutoEntry Costs per Invoice Credit

AutoEntry by Sage sells monthly credit plans from $13 for 50 credits to $469 for 2,500, roughly $0.19 to $0.26 a credit. A plain invoice uses 1 credit, an invoice with line items uses 2, and every bank statement page uses 3, so a bill with its lines costs $0.38 to $0.52. InvoiceExtractor reads every line on a flat page plan from $49 a month. Drop a bill below to compare.

Where the AutoEntry credit bill grows

The entry price is low and honest. The bill grows with the kind of document, not just the count, and that is easy to miss when you size a plan.

Line items double the price of a bill

A purchase invoice is 1 credit for the header and 2 credits once you ask for its line items. Clients who need job, item or class coding pay twice per bill.

Bank statements cost 3 credits a page

A 6-page bank statement is 18 credits. One month of statements for a busy client can use more credits than all of its vendor bills.

Overage rate is not published

AutoEntry allows a 200% overdraft by default and adds it to your next bill, but only says overage is charged at a higher rate per credit. You find the number on the invoice.

Credits expire after 90 days

Unused credits roll over for 3 months, then they are gone. Seasonal clients who buy for the busy quarter lose what the quiet months do not use.

Priced per client company

Sage tells accountants to pay per client, so a firm sizes a plan for each company it serves. Ten small clients means ten subscriptions, each with its own allowance.

Above 2,500 credits it is a sales call

The public tiers stop at 2,500 credits a month. Anything larger is a demo and a custom package, which is about 1,250 bills with line items.

How AutoEntry pricing works in 2026

These figures come from the AutoEntry pricing page with the currency set to US dollars, the AutoEntry help center article on credits, and the Sage US page for accountants, read in October 2026. Prices exclude sales tax.

Six monthly credit plans

Bronze 50 credits for $13, Silver 100 for $24, Gold 200 for $46, Platinum 500 for $103, Diamond 1,500 for $298 and Sapphire 2,500 for $469.

Credits by document type

Invoice or receipt 1 credit, invoice with line items 2, supplier statement 2, bank or credit card statement 3 per page.

Unlimited users on every plan

Every tier includes unlimited users, so a firm can let staff and clients upload without paying per seat.

90-day rollover

Unused credits stay available for up to 90 days. Plans can be upgraded or downgraded at any time, and bulk credits can be bought on top.

200% overdraft by default

If you run out, AutoEntry keeps processing up to twice your allowance and bills the extra on the next invoice at a higher, unpublished rate per credit.

Publishes to the ledger

AutoEntry connects to Sage, QuickBooks and Xero and publishes invoices, receipts and expenses with the document attached. That is the part a file-based extractor does not do.

How to size an AutoEntry plan in 3 steps

Count credits, not documents. The document mix decides the tier.

1

Split last month by document type

Count plain bills and receipts, bills that need their line items, supplier statements, and bank statement pages. Each has its own credit rate.

Tip: 80 bills with lines plus a 6-page statement is 160 + 18 = 178 credits, which is the Gold plan.

2

Multiply and add 20% for spikes

Credits per type times the count gives the monthly need. Size above it, because overage is billed at a higher rate than your plan credits.

3

Price the same pile on pages

Upload one of your heaviest multi-line bills in the tool above and compare the line table you get on a flat page plan with the 2-credit price per bill.

Who AutoEntry pricing suits, and who pays too much

AutoEntry is a good product at a fair entry price. The fit depends on how many of your documents need line items and statements.

Small businesses with header-only bills

A company with 40 plain bills a month fits Bronze or Silver and gets direct publishing to QuickBooks or Xero. That is good value. Keep it.

Bookkeeping firms with many small clients

Per-client plans add up across a client list. A firm can keep AutoEntry where publishing matters and run line-heavy clients through one page-based plan.

Contractors and distributors

Material and stock invoices need every line for job costing and item cost. At 2 credits a bill, 300 bills a month is 600 credits and a $298 Diamond plan.

Firms doing statement-heavy cleanup

Catch-up work on a year of bank statements runs at 3 credits a page. A 12-month backlog of 5-page statements is 180 credits before a single bill.

AutoEntry pricing at a glance

AutoEntry, owned by Sage, charges a monthly subscription that buys a pool of credits. You spend credits per document, and the price per credit falls as the plan gets bigger, from about 26 cents on Bronze to about 19 cents on Sapphire. Every plan has the same features, unlimited users and a 90-day rollover. The only thing that changes between tiers is the number of credits.

Plan Credits a month Price a month (USD) Per credit Bills with line items it covers
Bronze50$13$0.2625
Silver100$24$0.2450
Gold200$46$0.23100
Platinum500$103$0.21250
Diamond1,500$298$0.20750
Sapphire2,500$469$0.191,250

Above 2,500 credits AutoEntry asks you to book a demo for a custom package. One more number is worth knowing before you compare quotes: Sage's own US page for accountants shows a single AutoEntry plan at $17 a month and tells firms they always pay per client. The autoentry.com tiers above are the full ladder; the Sage page is the entry point it markets to practices.

How many credits does an invoice use in AutoEntry?

A purchase or sales invoice uses 1 credit, and the same invoice with its line items captured uses 2. Receipts and expense documents are 1 credit, supplier statements are 2, and bank or credit card statements are 3 credits for every page. So the dollar cost of one document depends on both its type and your plan.

Document Credits Cost on Bronze Cost on Sapphire
Invoice or bill, header only1$0.26$0.19
Invoice with line items2$0.52$0.38
Receipt or expense1$0.26$0.19
Supplier statement2$0.52$0.38
Bank or credit card statement, per page3$0.78$0.56

The help center does not say how a multi-page invoice is counted; only bank and card statements are priced per page. If your vendors send long bills, test a few in the trial and watch the credit balance.

Do AutoEntry credits roll over?

Yes, for 90 days. Unused credits stay in the account for three months and then expire. That suits a business with steady volume. It works against a seasonal one: a landscaping company that buys Platinum for spring and drops to Bronze in winter cannot bank its quiet-month credits for next year.

What happens if you run out of AutoEntry credits?

AutoEntry keeps processing. By default every subscription has a 200% credit overdraft for unexpected spikes, and the extra credits are added to your next bill. The FAQ says overage is charged at a higher rate per credit than your plan credits, without publishing that rate, and recommends talking to your account manager before you go over. You can also upgrade at any time or buy a one-off bulk pack of credits.

What AutoEntry costs at real volume

Here is a single client company that needs line items on every vendor bill, for example a contractor coding materials to jobs. Bills are assumed to be one page each.

The InvoiceExtractor column uses the faster Base AI model: Starter covers 2,500 pages a month and Plus covers 10,000. The Pro AI model, meant for poor scans and handwriting, has a smaller allowance, 500 pages on Starter and 2,000 on Plus. Line items are included on every page either way, so the price does not double when you want the lines. Pages that are not bills, such as statements, come out of the same page allowance rather than costing three times as much.

Where AutoEntry wins, honestly

Price is not the whole decision. AutoEntry publishes straight into Sage, QuickBooks and Xero with the source document attached, includes unlimited users, gives clients a mobile app to snap receipts, and its Partner Programme lets accountants offer clients 50% off for the first six months. For a small business with header-only bills, Bronze or Silver is cheap and saves real time.

InvoiceExtractor is a different shape of tool. It returns the data, every header field and every line, as Excel, CSV, JSON or a QuickBooks import file, and it does not post into your ledger for you. Plans are single seat. If direct publishing and many uploaders matter more than line detail, AutoEntry is the better buy. If the lines are the point, or the per-client plans are multiplying across a firm, a page-based plan is usually far cheaper.

Is AutoEntry worth it for a bookkeeping firm?

It depends on the client mix. AutoEntry is sold per client, so a firm with ten small clients on Silver pays ten times $24, or $240 a month, for up to 500 bills with line items in total. A practice whose clients mostly send header-only receipts and bills gets good value from that, plus publishing and the client app. A practice whose clients send multi-line supplier invoices pays the 2-credit rate on every one of them. Many firms split the list: AutoEntry where publishing saves the most time, and line-heavy clients through an extractor whose import file goes into the ledger. For the bank statement side of cleanup work, a dedicated tool to convert bank statements into QuickBooks is usually cheaper than 3 credits a page.

If you are weighing AutoEntry against the other big capture platform for practices, our AutoEntry vs Dext pricing comparison for bookkeepers runs both per-client models side by side. For Xero clients, the free option is covered in our Hubdoc pricing guide.

How InvoiceExtractor compares on price

InvoiceExtractor is priced by pages, not credits or clients. Starter is $49 a month, or $24 a month billed yearly, for 2,500 Base AI pages or 500 Pro AI pages. Plus is $149 a month, or $74 billed yearly, for 10,000 Base AI pages and unlimited pages per document. Every page includes the header and every line item, and you can extract invoice line items to Excel, CSV, JSON or a file to import bills into QuickBooks Online. Upload a bill at the top of this page and check the line table before you create an account.
