Nanonets vs Docsumo Pricing and Invoice Extraction Compared

Nanonets publishes a meter and Docsumo publishes a trial. Nanonets starts every account on $50 in credits, then charges $0.02, $0.10 or $0.30 each time an invoice passes a workflow step. Docsumo gives you 14 days and up to 1,000 pages free, then quotes Business and Enterprise on volume and adds a setup fee. One is self-serve from the first invoice, the other is a sales process built for lending and insurance files.

Why Nanonets and Docsumo are hard to compare on price

Only one of the two vendors publishes a paid rate. The other quotes every paid plan after a call, so a fair comparison has to work from the meter on one side and the quote factors on the other.

One meter, one quote

Nanonets lists $0.02, $0.10 and $0.30 per block run. Docsumo lists no paid price at all: Business and Enterprise are custom quotes based on pages, workflow steps and billing term.

Setup fees sit outside the subscription

Docsumo says setup fees are charged on top of the plan, scaled to how complex your documents are and how much help you need. Nanonets publishes no setup fee on Starter.

Unused volume behaves differently

Docsumo monthly credits reset each month and do not roll over. Nanonets credits are shared across the team and, per its pricing FAQ, never expire.

Seat counts change the entry price

Nanonets Starter allows up to 3 users. The Docsumo trial includes 10 user licences and Business adds unlimited users, so a larger review team is comparing a quoted Nanonets plan.

Cancellation needs notice

Docsumo asks for at least 30 days notice to cancel. A metered Nanonets account simply stops spending when invoices stop arriving.

The two products aim at different files

Docsumo now sells hardest into loan, claim and eligibility cases where many documents must agree. Nanonets sells general workflow automation, with invoices as its most common use.

What each vendor actually sells

The facts below come from nanonets.com/pricing and docsumo.com/pricing as read in October 2026. Where a vendor publishes nothing, the page says so.

Nanonets starts on credits

Every account gets $50 in credits with no card required. After that, Starter is $100 a month for 100 credits, with extraction, API access, email intake, cloud storage connectors and up to 3 users.

Nanonets meters each step

Formatting, routing and export cost $0.02 a run. Classification and validation cost $0.10. Data extraction and generative AI cost $0.30. Growth adds up to 40% volume discounts.

Docsumo starts on a trial

The free plan runs 14 days with up to 1,000 pages, 10 user licences, every pre-trained model, field and table extraction, the AI reviewer, webhooks, API and Excel downloads.

Docsumo quotes the rest

Business and Enterprise are custom quotes built on page volume, the workflow steps around each document and monthly or annual billing. Annual plans load all credits up front.

Docsumo goes deeper on case files

Enterprise adds cross-document validation, AI case management, master data lookups and real-time analytics, aimed at loan, claim and eligibility files.

Compliance differs by plan

Docsumo states SOC 2 Type 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA and GDPR on every plan, including the trial. Nanonets lists HIPAA and SOC 2 compliance under its Enterprise plan.

How to choose between Nanonets and Docsumo

Four steps turn a published meter and a quote-only price list into one decision you can defend.

1

Count invoices and pages for a full year

Pull monthly invoice counts and average page counts for the last twelve months, including the busiest month. Docsumo prices on pages, Nanonets on runs per document.

Tip: A three-page invoice is one Nanonets document but three Docsumo pages.

2

List the steps each invoice needs

Classification, extraction, validation, matching, routing, export. Price each one at the Nanonets run rate, and send the same list to Docsumo for the quote.

Tip: Extraction plus export alone is $0.32 an invoice on Nanonets.

3

Ask Docsumo for the full first-year number

Request the subscription, the setup fee, the billing term and the overage rule in one written quote. That is the only figure you can put next to a Nanonets estimate.

Tip: Ask whether unused monthly pages can move to an annual pool.

4

Test both on your 20 worst invoices

Use the Nanonets credits and the Docsumo 14-day trial on the same hard invoices and count corrected fields per document, including line items.

Tip: Reviewer minutes usually cost more than either subscription.

Nanonets vs Docsumo pricing, features and fit

Both price lists side by side, the Nanonets per-invoice math, what goes into a Docsumo quote, the honest capability split and where a flat extractor costs less than both.

Small and mid-sized AP teams

A few hundred invoices a month on QuickBooks, Xero or NetSuite. Self-serve metering usually beats a quoted plan with a setup fee at this size.

Lenders and mortgage operations

Loan files with bank statements, pay stubs and tax forms that must agree with each other. Docsumo Enterprise is built for that cross-document check.

Bookkeeping and accounting firms

Many clients with uneven volume. A meter that follows real usage, or a flat extractor, fits better than a monthly plan whose credits reset.

Teams that need HIPAA from day one

Docsumo states HIPAA on every plan, including the trial. On Nanonets, HIPAA sits in the Enterprise plan, so a small healthcare team should price that tier.

Nanonets vs Docsumo pricing side by side

Nanonets bills per workflow run with no contract: $50 in starting credits, then $0.02, $0.10 or $0.30 for each step a document passes through, on a $100 a month Starter plan. Docsumo publishes a free 14-day trial of up to 1,000 pages and quotes every paid plan, with a setup fee on top. Only Nanonets lets you work out the bill before talking to sales.

Every figure below was read from nanonets.com/pricing and docsumo.com/pricing in October 2026, in US dollars. Docsumo used to show monthly prices on its site. It no longer does, so any older Docsumo number you find in a comparison article is out of date.

The practical difference shows up in the first week. With Nanonets, a controller can sign up, build a two-step flow and know the exact cost of the next invoice. With Docsumo, the trial is set up with you on a call, and the paid price only exists once a quote arrives. Neither approach is wrong, but they suit different buyers.

How much does Docsumo cost?

Docsumo does not publish a paid price. The free plan covers 14 days and up to 1,000 pages. Business and Enterprise are quoted on the pages you process, the workflow steps around each document and whether you pay monthly or annually, and a setup fee is charged in addition to the subscription.

Three things drive the quote, by Docsumo's own description. First, page volume over the month or the year. Second, the steps around each document: classification, master data lookups, cross-document checks and automated workflows all add cost. Third, the billing term, with annual plans cheaper than monthly and multi-year deals discounted further. Annual plans load the whole year's credits up front, which helps a business with a busy quarter, while monthly credits that go unused are lost at the end of the month.

Payment is prepaid by card, or by wire for annual subscriptions, with auto-pay on monthly plans. If you want a figure to budget against, ask for the subscription, the setup fee, the overage rule and the term in one written quote. Our Docsumo alternative page covers options with a published price.

How much does Nanonets cost per invoice?

Nanonets costs between about $0.32 and $1.80 per invoice at list rates, depending on how many steps your workflow runs. A bare extract-and-export flow is two runs. Nanonets says a typical invoice workflow uses four to six blocks and stays under $2 per invoice end to end.

WorkflowSteps it runsCost per invoice200 a month, per year1,000 a month, per year5,000 a month, per year
LeanExtraction ($0.30) plus export ($0.02)$0.32$768$3,840$19,200
TypicalClassification ($0.10), extraction ($0.30), validation ($0.10), routing ($0.02), export ($0.02)$0.54$1,296$6,480$32,400
HeavySix complex AI steps at $0.30, the vendor's own worst case$1.80$4,320$21,600$108,000

These are list rates before the Growth plan's volume discount of up to 40%. They also sit on top of the $100 Starter fee, which buys 100 credits, so at very low volume the floor is the subscription rather than the meter. The full Nanonets pricing page covers the credit rules, and the Nanonets vs Rossum comparison shows where an annual contract overtakes the meter.

Is Nanonets better than Docsumo?

Nanonets is the better fit for finance teams that want to start without a sales call, pay only for the steps they run and connect to QuickBooks, Xero, Sage or NetSuite. Docsumo is the better fit for lenders, insurers and healthcare teams whose files hold many documents that must agree, and who want HIPAA and SOC 2 Type 2 on every plan.

Review sites rate the two closely, and both vendors publish comparison pages that favor themselves, so treat any accuracy percentage on a vendor page as marketing. The test that settles it costs nothing: take your 20 hardest invoices from last month, the multi-page ones with long item tables, and run them through both trials. Count the fields you had to correct per invoice. That number drives reviewer time, and reviewer time is usually the biggest line in the total cost.

Does Docsumo have a free trial?

Yes. Docsumo's free plan runs for 14 days and includes up to 1,000 pages, 10 user licences, every pre-trained model, field and table extraction, the AI document reviewer, pre-built integrations, webhooks, API access and Excel downloads. It is set up with you on a short call rather than by self-signup.

Nanonets takes the opposite approach: no time limit, $50 in credits. At the typical $0.54 workflow that covers roughly 90 invoices; at the lean $0.32 flow, about 150. If you want to test volume, Docsumo's 1,000 pages go further. If you want to test at your own pace over a month, the Nanonets credits are more forgiving.

Where a flat invoice extractor fits instead of either

If the job is getting invoice header fields and every line item into a spreadsheet, QuickBooks or an ERP import file, a flat monthly extractor is usually cheaper than both. InvoiceExtractor Starter is $49 a month for 2,500 pages on the Base AI model, and Plus is $149 a month for 10,000 pages, with line items included and no setup fee.

That is a narrower product than either vendor. There is no case management, no cross-document check and no approval workflow. What it does is turn PDFs, scans and photos into clean rows with no per-step meter and no quote, which is the whole requirement for many small AP teams and bookkeeping firms. At 1,000 single-page invoices a month, Plus costs $1,788 a year against $6,480 on a typical Nanonets workflow. When those invoices then need approval and payment, a separate accounts payable automation tool handles that step, and if your vendors send statements you also need to tie out, you can convert bank statement PDFs to Excel the same way. Upload one of your own invoices in the tool at the top of this page and compare the rows with what either trial returns, and see invoice line item extraction for how tables are handled.

Nanonets vs Docsumo questions

Nanonets is better for finance teams that want self-serve signup, per-run billing and connectors for QuickBooks, Xero, Sage and NetSuite. Docsumo is better for lenders, insurers and healthcare teams that need cross-document validation and HIPAA on every plan. Test both on your hardest invoices before deciding.

Docsumo publishes no paid price. The free plan runs 14 days with up to 1,000 pages. Business and Enterprise are custom quotes based on pages processed, workflow steps and billing term, and a setup fee is charged on top of the subscription.

Nanonets charges per workflow run rather than per page: $0.02 for simple steps, $0.10 for standard AI and $0.30 for extraction. A lean extract-and-export flow is about $0.32 a document, and Nanonets says a typical four to six block invoice workflow stays under $2.

Yes. Docsumo states that setup fees are charged in addition to the subscription, and that the amount depends on how complex your documents are and how much support you need from its team. Ask for it in the same written quote as the plan.

No, not for ongoing use. New accounts get $50 in starting credits with no card, roughly 90 invoices on a typical five-step workflow. After that, the Starter plan is $100 a month for 100 credits, plus usage.

Not on monthly plans. Unused monthly credits reset at the end of each month. On an annual subscription you receive the full year of credits up front and can use them any time during the term.

Docsumo states it is SOC 2 Type 2 audited, ISO 27001 certified and HIPAA and GDPR compliant on every plan, including the free trial. Nanonets lists HIPAA and SOC 2 compliance under its Enterprise plan.

If you only need invoice fields and line items exported to Excel, CSV or an accounting import, a flat extractor costs less. InvoiceExtractor Starter is $49 a month for 2,500 pages and Plus is $149 a month for 10,000 pages, with no per-step meter and no setup fee.
