Continia does not show a price on its website. It publishes the numbers as downloadable partner price sheets, and G2 still records the product as having no public pricing. The complete USD rate card is below, every tier of it, taken from the sheet Continia marks Valid April 2026, alongside the January 2023 edition so you can see what moved. The short version: the base license runs from $14 to $11,660 a month, and the smallest customers absorbed the largest increase.

The product is well regarded by Business Central teams. The commercial model is the part that catches people out, because the published material and the actual invoice can look very different.
Continia.com carries a pricing page, but it offers PDF price sheets by currency rather than figures on screen. G2 records that Continia has not provided public pricing information for this product. The USD numbers exist, they are simply not where buyers look.
You do not pay per invoice. You pay a flat monthly fee for the band your transaction count falls into, so the effective cost per document swings hugely depending on where in the band you land.
Crossing a band boundary is a step change, not a slope. Going from 25 registered documents to 26 takes the base license from $14 to $32. Going from 1,500 to 1,501 takes it from $332 to $493.
Essential is the entry row. Advanced Capture, Order Matching, Document Approval and Purchase Contracts are charged on top, and most AP teams want at least two of them. Continia own worked example turns a $90 base into $318.25.
Continia sells through Business Central partners and states that all billing is handled by them. The sheet prices are recommended prices excluding tax, so the quote in front of you may not match the sheet.
The counting rules matter as much as the rate card, because they decide which band you land in. These come from Continia own documentation and the April 2026 price sheet.
A document counts once when you import and register it, including its attachments. Page count is irrelevant, so a one page invoice and a forty page invoice cost exactly the same.
PDFs that were OCR processed but never registered do not count toward consumption, and neither do files attached by drag and drop. You can read a document without paying for it.
There are no extra fees for additional Business Central users, additional companies, bank accounts, production environments, or use of the Continia Delivery Network. Seat count does not enter the price at all.
Your band is set by total transactions across all companies and all production environments inside one calendar month. Splitting work across legal entities does not split the bill.
The second feature module you activate gets 25 percent off, and the third and any beyond it get 50 percent off. The first is full price.
The free trial expires after 30 days from installation, or when 25 documents have been registered, whichever happens first. A busy AP inbox can burn it in an afternoon.
Four steps take you from the rate card to a number you can put in a budget.
Pull last month of AP documents that would actually be imported and registered in Business Central, across every company and production environment. That single number decides your band.
If you land just above a boundary you are paying the band price for very little volume. At 26 documents you pay $32, which is $1.23 each. At 100 documents you pay the same $32, which is $0.32 each.
Take the feature module price for your band, then apply full price, 25 percent off, 50 percent off, 50 percent off as you stack. Four modules multiply the module rate by 2.75, not by 4.
Work out what the raw data extraction would cost on a metered tool with no band structure, then decide how much of the gap is buying you Business Central workflow rather than OCR.
The complete USD rate card, the tier cliffs, the 2023 to 2026 change, and an honest comparison against metered extraction.
You have a partner proposal in front of you and no way to sanity check it. The rate card below is the yardstick.
You are close to a band boundary and want to know what next quarter costs before it arrives rather than after.
You want to separate what you are paying for OCR from what you are paying for the Business Central integration and approval workflow.
You need defensible monthly figures across a range of client volumes without waiting on a price sheet download.

Continia Document Capture is priced in monthly bands based on how many documents you register, not per user and not per page. In USD, the Essential base license runs from $14 a month for up to 25 documents to $11,660 a month for up to 275,000. Each feature module is charged on top, from $14 to $835 a month, with a 25 percent discount on the second module activated and 50 percent on the third and beyond.
Every figure on this page comes from the USD price sheet Continia publishes for Microsoft AppSource on Business Central Online, marked Valid April 2026, plus the January 2023 edition of the same sheet for comparison. Continia describes these as recommended prices excluding tax, subject to change, and all billing runs through your Business Central partner, so treat them as the reference point rather than a contract.
The band is set by the number of transactions registered in a calendar month. Essential is the base license. The feature module column is the price for one module at full price, before the stacking discount.

| 55,001 to 60,000 | $3,050 | $626 | $0.051 |
| 60,001 to 70,000 | $3,588 | $645 | $0.051 |
| 70,001 to 80,000 | $4,036 | $664 | $0.050 |
| 80,001 to 90,000 | $4,485 | $683 | $0.050 |
| 90,001 to 100,000 | $5,382 | $702 | $0.054 |
| 100,001 to 125,000 | $6,279 | $721 | $0.050 |
| 125,001 to 150,000 | $7,176 | $740 | $0.048 |
| 150,001 to 175,000 | $8,073 | $759 | $0.046 |
| 175,001 to 200,000 | $8,970 | $778 | $0.045 |
| 200,001 to 225,000 | $9,867 | $797 | $0.044 |
| 225,001 to 250,000 | $10,763 | $816 | $0.043 |
| 250,001 to 275,000 | $11,660 | $835 | $0.042 |
Notice that the cost per document does not fall smoothly. It bottoms out around $0.042 to $0.046 in the very large bands, but between 30,000 and 90,000 documents a month it actually rises again, because the band steps widen faster than the price does in places. Volume discounting here is real but it is not monotonic, and the curve is worth checking against your own projected growth rather than assuming bigger is always cheaper per unit.
Because you pay a flat fee per band, one additional registered document at the wrong moment can move you up a band. These are the steepest jumps in the April 2026 USD sheet, measured on the Essential license alone.
| Crossing | Essential before | Essential after | Increase for one document |
|---|---|---|---|
| 25 to 26 documents | $14 | $32 | 128.6% |
| 100 to 101 documents | $32 | $63 | 96.9% |
| 1,500 to 1,501 documents | $332 | $493 | 48.5% |
| 750 to 751 documents | $170 | $251 | 47.6% |
| 200 to 201 documents | $63 | $90 | 42.9% |
| 1,000 to 1,001 documents | $251 | $332 | 32.3% |
| 300 to 301 documents | $90 | $116 | 28.9% |
| 35,000 to 35,001 documents | $1,614 | $1,973 | 22.2% |
The practical consequence is that a business sitting at 1,480 documents a month has a real financial reason to care about the last twenty documents of the month, and a business at 1,520 has a reason to look at what is being registered that does not need to be. Continia counting rules help here: a PDF that is OCR processed but never registered does not count, so documents that end up rejected or filed elsewhere are not billable. That is a genuinely customer friendly rule and it is worth knowing before you optimize the wrong thing.
Essential on its own gives you capture into Business Central. The four feature modules, Advanced Capture, Order Matching, Document Approval and Purchase Contracts, are what most AP teams are actually buying, and they are priced separately. The discount stacks: first module full price, second 25 percent off, third and fourth 50 percent off.
Continia publishes a worked example on the April 2026 sheet at 245 registered documents, which falls in the 201 to 300 band. It is reproduced exactly below.
| Line | Gross price | Discount | Net price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Essential | $90 | $90.00 | |
| Advanced Capture | $83 | $83.00 | |
| Order Matching | $83 | 25% | $62.25 |
| Document Approval | $83 | 50% | $41.50 |
| Purchase Contracts | $83 | 50% | $41.50 |
| Total | $422 | $318.25 |
That is the number worth carrying around. The rate card headline for this band is $90, and the realistic fully configured bill is $318.25, which works out at $1.30 per document at 245 documents a month. The shortcut for a full four module stack is to multiply the module rate by 2.75 and add Essential, because 1 plus 0.75 plus 0.5 plus 0.5 equals 2.75.
| Monthly volume | Essential only | Essential plus all four modules | Per document, fully loaded |
|---|---|---|---|
| 25 | $14 | $52.50 | $2.10 |
| 100 | $32 | $144.75 | $1.45 |
| 300 | $90 | $318.25 | $1.06 |
| 500 | $139 | $466.25 | $0.93 |
| 1,000 | $251 | $655.25 | $0.66 |
| 2,000 | $493 | $1,040.25 | $0.52 |
| 5,000 | $807 | $1,824.50 | $0.36 |
| 10,000 | $942 | $2,141.00 | $0.21 |
Continia repriced Document Capture between the January 2023 and April 2026 USD sheets, and the increase was not spread evenly. Customers registering more than 400 documents a month saw the Essential license rise by a consistent 11 percent. Customers in the five smallest bands saw increases of 20 to 56 percent.
| Band | Essential Jan 2023 | Essential Apr 2026 | Change |
|---|---|---|---|
| Smallest band, up to 25 | $9 | $14 | +55.6% |
| 26 to 100 | $24 | $32 | +33.3% |
| 101 to 200 | $48 | $63 | +31.3% |
| 201 to 300 | $73 | $90 | +23.3% |
| 301 to 400 | $97 | $116 | +19.6% |
| 401 to 500 | $125 | $139 | +11.2% |
| 1,001 to 1,500 | $299 | $332 | +11.0% |
| 9,001 to 10,000 | $848 | $942 | +11.1% |
| 45,001 to 50,000 | $2,262 | $2,512 | +11.1% |
| Largest band, to 275,000 | $10,500 | $11,660 | +11.0% |
Feature modules moved further. Above the small bands they rose by a consistent 17.4 percent against the base license 11 percent, so the add-ons inflated roughly 58 percent faster than the thing they attach to. A module that cost $170 a month at the 1,501 to 2,000 band in 2023 costs $199 today.
The structure changed too. The January 2023 sheet listed Advanced Capture, Order Matching, Document Approval and Purchase Contracts as four separate priced rows, which happened to carry identical figures. The April 2026 sheet collapses them into a single Feature Modules row. The 2026 sheet also switched its language from registered documents to transactions and added production environments to the aggregation rule, so multiple production environments now visibly pool into one monthly count.
This is the comparison buyers ask for, and it needs a caveat before the numbers. Continia is not selling OCR. It is selling capture, approval workflow, purchase order matching and contract handling, all native inside Business Central. A raw extraction API sells you fields in JSON and nothing else. Comparing them on price alone flatters the API and tells you very little.
With that said, here is the honest arithmetic at 1,000 documents a month averaging two pages each, which is 2,000 pages.
| Option | Unit | Monthly cost at 1,000 documents | What you get |
|---|---|---|---|
| Continia Essential only | Band fee | $251 | Capture into Business Central |
| Continia plus four modules | Band fee | $655.25 | Capture, matching, approval, contracts |
| Azure AI Document Intelligence prebuilt invoice | $10 per 1,000 pages | $20 | Extracted fields only, you build the rest |
| AWS Textract Analyze Expense | $10 per 1,000 pages | $20 | Extracted fields only, you build the rest |
So the Business Central integration and workflow is costing somewhere between $231 and $635 a month at that volume. For a team that would otherwise pay somebody to key invoices and chase approvals by email, that can be straightforwardly worth it. For a team that already has an approval process it likes and only wants the data off the page, it is a lot to pay for OCR.
One point genuinely favors Continia here: it bills per document, not per page. A forty page construction invoice costs the same $0.25 as a one page utility bill, where a per-page meter would charge forty times as much. If your vendor mix is heavy with long documents, Continia band model can be the cheaper structure, and that is not something the per-page vendors will tell you.
Yes, and it has two expiry conditions. The trial ends 30 days after installation, or when 25 documents have been registered, whichever comes first. All modules are active during the trial so you can evaluate Order Matching and Document Approval without buying them. The 25 document ceiling is the one that catches people out, because a real AP inbox can consume it in a single morning and leave you evaluating a product you can no longer feed.
A practical approach is to hold the trial until you have a representative batch ready, then run your five ugliest recurring vendor layouts through it deliberately rather than pointing your live inbox at it on day one.
The counting rules decide your band, so they decide your price. Continia documents them clearly, which is more than most vendors in this category manage.
| Counts as a transaction | Does not count |
|---|---|
| Importing and registering a document, including its attachments | Sending or receiving a response over the Continia Delivery Network |
| Registered PDF documents | PDFs that were OCR processed but never registered |
| Registered XML documents | Files attached by drag and drop |
| Documents in any company or production environment, pooled | Additional users, companies, bank accounts or environments |
The line worth underlining is that a document is one transaction regardless of page count, and that OCR without registration is free. Together those two rules mean the way to control a Continia bill is to control what gets registered, not what gets scanned.
No. Continia states there are no extra fees for additional Business Central users, additional companies, bank accounts, production environments, or usage of the Continia Delivery Network. Price depends only on the number of transactions registered in a calendar month. For an AP function with many occasional approvers, this is a meaningful advantage over per seat licensing, because adding reviewers costs nothing.
If the band structure or the module stacking does not suit your volume, the realistic comparisons fall into three groups, and each answers a different question.
| Option | Commercial model | Best when |
|---|---|---|
| Continia Document Capture | Monthly band by document count plus modules | You are on Business Central and want capture, matching and approval in one native package |
| ERP native capture, such as NetSuite Bill Capture | Quote-only add-on module | You are already on that ERP and want no third party in the stack |
| ERP native capture with a hard cap, such as Acumatica AP Document Recognition | Included but capped at 50 pages a month | Your volume is genuinely tiny and predictable |
| Metered extraction API | Per page or per document, no bands | You want the data and already have somewhere to put it |
A common pattern is to run Continia for the Business Central workflow and use a metered extractor for everything that falls outside it: the non-Business Central entity, the scanned archive backlog, the supplier that sends a hundred invoices in one PDF. Splitting the work by where it belongs usually beats forcing all of it through whichever tool was bought first, and it keeps you off the wrong side of a band boundary.
If you also handle employee spend alongside vendor invoices, that is a separate problem with separate economics, and running receipts through a dedicated expense management system keeps them out of your registered document count entirely. Once bills are posted, matching them back against what actually left the bank is a different job again, and a purpose built account reconciliation tool will do it faster than a spreadsheet of exceptions.
Continia Document Capture is priced in monthly bands by the number of documents you register. In USD the Essential base license runs from $14 a month for up to 25 documents to $11,660 a month for up to 275,000. Feature modules cost $14 to $835 each per month on top, with a 25 percent discount on the second activated and 50 percent on the third and beyond.
No. Continia states there are no extra fees for additional Business Central users, additional companies, bank accounts, production environments, or usage of the Continia Delivery Network. The only variable in the price is how many documents you register in a calendar month, which means adding approvers or reviewers costs nothing.
Per document. Consumption counts per document rather than per page, so a single page invoice and a forty page invoice each count as one transaction. This is a real structural advantage over per page meters like Azure AI Document Intelligence or AWS Textract when your vendors send long documents.
A document counts once when you import and register it, including attachments, and both PDF and XML documents count. Sending or receiving a response over the Continia Delivery Network does not count. Neither do files attached by drag and drop, or PDFs that were OCR processed but never registered.
Yes. The free trial expires 30 days after installation or once 25 documents have been registered, whichever comes first. All modules are activated during the trial, so Advanced Capture, Order Matching, Document Approval and Purchase Contracts can all be evaluated before any of them is purchased.
Each module is charged at the rate for your band, between $14 and $835 a month. The discount stacks: the first module is full price, the second is 25 percent off, and the third and any beyond are 50 percent off. Continia own example at 245 documents shows a $90 base becoming $318.25 with all four modules.
Continia publishes pricing as downloadable partner price sheets by currency rather than as figures on the pricing page, and all billing is handled through Business Central partners. G2 records that Continia has not provided public pricing information for the product. The USD sheet exists and is current to April 2026.
Yes. Comparing the January 2023 and April 2026 USD sheets, the Essential license rose about 11 percent for everyone registering more than 400 documents a month. The five smallest bands rose far more, between 19.6 and 55.6 percent. Feature modules rose about 17.4 percent, faster than the base license.
Your monthly fee jumps to the next band immediately, because each band is a flat fee rather than a rate. The steepest steps are small: one document taking you from 25 to 26 raises the base license 128.6 percent, and moving from 1,500 to 1,501 raises it 48.5 percent. Volume just above a boundary is the most expensive place to sit.
It depends what you need built. At 1,000 documents a month Continia Essential is $251 and the full module stack is $655.25, against roughly $20 for raw extraction on a per page API. The difference buys native Business Central capture, purchase order matching and approval workflow, which you would otherwise build and maintain yourself.
The rate card on this page is the sheet for Microsoft AppSource on Business Central Online. Continia publishes separate price sheets for on premises deployments and updates cloud and on premises pricing separately, so an on premises quote should be checked against that sheet rather than this one.
Control what gets registered rather than what gets scanned, because OCR without registration is free and registration is what bills. Watch band boundaries near month end, activate modules in an order that puts the two you need least into the 50 percent discount slots, and keep volume that falls outside Business Central on a metered tool.
